About the Program:
Study Tours International operates summer English language and travel programs for international high school students in collaboration with The Brook Hill Alliance. Students live on university campuses, take English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classes, and join cultural excursions while residing at a university in North York, ON.
Position Summary:
English as a Foreign Language (EFL) Instructors are independent contractors engaged by Study Tours International. While The Brook Hill Alliance assists with recruitment, all contracts are managed through Study Tours International. EFL Instructors deliver engaging, interactive English lessons focused on speaking and listening. Lessons follow the curriculum provided by The Brook Hill Alliance. Instructors report to the Centre Manager.
Dates and Times of the Program:
Candidates must be available in the morning (8:15am-12:15pm) for:
Session 1: July 11, July 12, July 14, July 15 and/or
Session 2: July 31, August 1, August 2, August 4
Compensation: Hourly contractor rate
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach EFL classes using the provided curriculum; supplement as needed
- Foster a supportive, inclusive classroom environment
- Conduct placement assessments and proficiency checks
- Administer standardized tests and manage classroom logistics
- Collaborate with the Centre Manager and academic team
- Attend orientation and required program meetings
Contract Terms:
- Classes typically run Monday–Saturday in the morning
- Each student receives approx. 15 hours of instruction per one-week session. Candidates must be fully available for the dates and times listed in either or both sessions listed above.
Requirements:
- Authorization to work in Canada
- University degree required; TESOL/ESL certification or Master’s preferred
- Prior EFL/ESL teaching experience strongly preferred
- Comfortable working in multicultural classrooms
- Professional, organized, and adaptable with strong communication skills
